McDonald’s Plans New Value Bundles After U.S. Sales Dip

McDonald’s is testing mix-and-match and fixed-price meal bundles at 1,900 U.S. restaurants, with plans to introduce new offers early in 2027. Chief Executive Chris Kempczinski said on November 4 that an example could pair a McChicken with small fries for $3.50. About 4,000 franchisees have already introduced bundles of their own rather than wait for the test to finish.

Sales at U.S. restaurants open at least a year slipped 0.2% from July through September. The decline was smaller than analysts had anticipated and was the company’s first such drop since early 2025. McDonald’s brought back some app deals and redirected marketing toward value meals; same-store sales returned to growth in September and October.

The company has been revising its value offers for more than two years, including a $5 meal deal in 2024 and, later, a menu with 10 items priced at $3 or below. However, only 60% of U.S. restaurants were offering the latest version of the McValue menu in August. Franchisees own 95% of the company’s U.S. locations.

Worldwide, same-store sales grew 1.3% in the quarter, while revenue rose 1% to $7.16 billion, below analysts’ expectations. Net income increased 9% to $2.49 billion, and adjusted earnings per share of $3.57 topped forecasts. McDonald’s shares rose more than 5% in morning trading on November 4.
