AI Agents Booked Just Four Uber Rides in the Third Quarter
Uber logged only four rides booked through AI assistants in the third quarter of 2026, executives said on an earnings call on November 4. During the week of Halloween, agents placed about 500 orders through Uber Eats, compared with roughly 320 million transactions across both Uber services, Chief Financial Officer Balaji Krishnamurthy said.
The figures offer an early measure of how little customers are using AI agents to book rides or order food through the company. The technology is drawing attention for its potential to complete tasks on users’ behalf, but Uber’s numbers show that its own app remains the much more common route for transactions.
Chief Executive Dara Khosrowshahi said agent use had gained “very, very early and very limited traction,” while expressing hope that it would grow. He said booking a ride in the Uber app takes about 50 seconds on average, and reordering a favorite meal takes about 90 seconds, leaving little time for an agent to save.
Khosrowshahi said Uber was open to working with AI companies and viewed agents as a possible source of additional demand. He also said the company wanted to avoid depending on any single provider and expected consumers to continue finding its direct services easy to use. Uber is developing its own AI features, including a grocery-list assistant for Uber Eats.
