Rhode Island poised to disrupt status quo with new wave of leaders
On November 3, 2026, Rhode Island voters chose a governor, Providence mayor and other officials, with Democrat Helena Buonanno Foulkes and state Representative David Morales favored to win. Several incumbents were also expected to retain their offices, while Kim Ahern was projected to become the state’s first openly LGBTQ+ statewide officeholder if elected attorney general.
