Prosecutors Seek Adult Trial for Teen in Fairfield Halloween Store Shooting
The Solano County District Attorney’s Office has filed two murder charges against the teen, with an allegation that multiple killings constitute a special circumstance, as well as three attempted-murder charges and three allegations of assault using a semiautomatic firearm. The filing also includes gun-related enhancements and an allegation of a prior violent-offense conviction that makes the charge a strike under California law.
The shooting took place at the Solano Town Center store on October 30. Hages, 31, died, and six other people were wounded. Police said investigators believe the gunman was targeting a customer inside the store. A school resource officer recognized the suspect in surveillance video, helping investigators identify him within hours; police later found him at a residence in Suisun City.
Prosecutors have asked the juvenile court to move the case into the adult justice system. California law requires a judge to approve such a move, and the teen’s next juvenile court appearance, for an arraignment and detention hearing, is set for November 4. Prosecutors say they will seek to keep him in custody, citing the charges, his record and public safety.
Police have said the teen spent several months in juvenile hall in connection with a 2025 shooting at a high school parking area. The district attorney’s office said he was waiting for sentencing on another gun-related offense at the time of the Halloween store shooting.
