Sonos Opens Waitlist for 27voice Assistant
On November 3, 2026, Sonos announced an app update bringing new features to its Sonos 27 platform, including a waitlist for early access to its 27voice assistant. US users can request a place starting November 6, and access for selected testers is scheduled to begin November 12. The test will be limited to the United States and English, ahead of a planned wider release in 2027.
Sonos says 27voice can control music playback, move it between rooms, group or separate speakers, and set timers. It is also designed to respond to natural-language requests, including questions and instructions that combine finding an artist or album with playing music on a chosen speaker. The assistant can also select music by mood or genre and interact with supported smart-home devices.
The update adds Presets, which let users save combinations of music and playback settings, such as a particular track and volume for a room, then start them from the app. On iOS, System Health will show details such as speaker connections and Wi-Fi networks and flag potential setup problems.
Additional app changes include using a swipe in the playback view or compact player to move to another track, and rearranging favorites. Sonos is testing 27voice with a smaller group before its planned 2027 release. The Sonos 27 software is available only on hardware that supports the company’s S2 platform.
