Apple Tests Watch Features That Rewind and Summarize Conversations

Apple began testing two conversation-focused Audio Intelligence features for its newest watches on November 3, 2026. The watchOS 27.3 developer beta includes Siri Recap and Live Rewind for Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4.

Live Rewind displays text from the previous 15 seconds of detected audio when a user presses the Digital Crown twice. Users can question Siri about the text or store it in the Siri app. A chime, animation and microphone indicator signal when the feature is used; unsaved snippets are automatically removed.

Siri Recap creates a title and key points from a conversation for later review. Apple says it does not identify speakers or retain the original audio, and that summaries exclude certain sensitive details. Users can enable the feature themselves or set a schedule, and can review recaps before saving them. Unsaved recaps are deleted after seven days.

The features rely on the watch’s microphone and S11 chip, along with a compatible iPhone running Apple Intelligence. Apple says audio is processed in protected hardware and is not available to the operating system, apps or the company. Saved text can sync between devices with end-to-end encryption when the user has iCloud with two-factor authentication and a device passcode.

Testing is limited to English and excludes the EU, with daily usage limits. Users can turn the features off, and Siri Recap will not operate while headphones are playing music or using noise cancellation.
