James Acaster Denies Complaining About Celebrity Traitors Co-Stars
Acaster said claims that he had objected to teasing by fellow contestants Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan were “completely fabricated.” He said he had been friends with the pair for more than a decade and that they were kind to him throughout filming. He denied making a complaint about any of his fellow players.
The claim was that Acaster had told the production team he felt uncomfortable with the pair’s banter and believed he was being singled out. A further account said jokes about his middle-class background had added to his discomfort.
Acaster said agents for him, Beckett and Ranganathan had all rejected the claim when contacted. The BBC also denied that there had been teasing or complaints about it, saying there were no such incidents and no evidence for the allegations.
On Carr’s podcast, Acaster also described a moment with contestant Jerry Hall that did not appear in the show. After Hall accused him of being a Traitor, he told her he thought it might be him, too, and agreed when she called him sneaky.
Acaster’s televised exit came in the penultimate episode, when he revealed at a roundtable that he was a Traitor and was voted off. Romesh Ranganathan and Sebastian Croft won as Faithfuls.
