Dybantsa scores career-high 21 as Wizards beat Magic

Anthony Davis scored 29 points and grabbed eight rebounds as Washington won its second consecutive game. Rookie AJ Dybantsa contributed 21 points in his third NBA appearance, while Kyshawn George scored 22 and Trae Young had 15 points and nine assists. The victory lifted the Wizards to 4-3 and handed Orlando its fourth straight home loss.

Washington shot 53% from the field. The Magic, led by Franz Wagner’s 24 points and Desmond Bane’s 20, made 11 of 39 three-point attempts after hitting four of their first five.

Orlando moved ahead by nine near the beginning of the second period, but Young scored 10 points during a 13-2 Wizards run that helped swing the game. Washington then held the Magic to nine points in the third quarter and carried an 11-point lead into the final period. The Magic tried to rally, but Dybantsa scored twice in transition late in the game.

Dybantsa’s 21 points marked his first 20-point game in the NBA. He also had five rebounds and three steals, and made all six of his free throws. He has reached 17 points in every one of his opening three appearances, after missing Washington’s first four games with an ankle injury.

The Wizards played without center Alex Sarr, who had started their first six games. Orlando was also missing Paolo Banchero and Jalen Suggs, while Anthony Black sat out as a precaution. Washington is scheduled to host Atlanta on November 4; Orlando is set to visit Phoenix on November 5.
