Saquon Barkley Is a Hold Despite Injury Concerns
Barkley’s injuries limited his workload in Philadelphia’s Week 8 game. He had 13 carries, just two more than teammate Elijah Mitchell, after also leaving and returning during Week 7. He remained in the Week 8 game, though his role diminished as it went on.
The hamstring issue is a concern heading into Week 9, with the bye the following week offering time to recover. Barkley is also dealing with back tightness and spasms. His exact level of impairment is unclear, but he showed speed in Week 8, reaching 19.55 mph on a run—16th-fastest in the NFL that week. If he stays healthy, he still has the potential to rank among the top 10 fantasy running backs in a given week.
Trade rumors had surrounded Barkley, but as of November 1, he was not expected to be moved. His fantasy value is near its low for the season after he missed Weeks 5 and 6 and saw limited usage in Weeks 7 and 8. He is ranked 22nd among running backs for the rest of the season, while his struggling offense adds risk. The analysis advised against buying low, noting that potential replacements such as Quinshon Judkins or Jonah Coleman may offer limited upside. It also judged that a sale would not bring an especially attractive return, making a hold the preferred choice. The recommendation is to let Barkley use the Week 10 bye to recover and reassess for Week 11.
