Man Dies in Custody at Snohomish County Jail
Published November 2, 2026. A 54-year-old man died while in custody at the Snohomish County Jail on November 1, three days after Everett police booked him on suspicion of drug possession and breaching an order barring him from a drug area.
At about 10:13 a.m., a corrections deputy found the man unresponsive in his cell while helping a nurse with medication. Jail detention and medical staff tried to revive him, but he was pronounced dead.
The sheriff’s office Major Crimes Unit is investigating the death. A separate, unexpected fatality review will examine it from a clinical standpoint.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will confirm the man’s identity and determine the cause and manner of death.
