Carrollton Hospital Worker Arrested After Patient Reports Assault
Published November 4, 2026: Carrollton police say a patient reported on November 2 that she woke in her bed at Carrollton Regional Medical Center and found a patient care technician sexually assaulting her. The patient identified the worker as Ernest Ussin Jr., 46.
Police obtained an arrest warrant and arrested Ussin on November 3. He is charged with indecent contact while working as a medical or mental health professional. Officials held him at Carrollton Jail before an intended move to Denton County Jail.
Detectives believe there may be other victims and say the alleged conduct was confined to the hospital. Police said authorities have not identified a continuing danger to community members. The investigation remains active.
The hospital said it terminated Ussin’s employment and is cooperating with investigators. Its chief executive, Caleb O’Rear, said the hospital was deeply concerned by the allegations and that patient safety was its highest priority.
Police are asking anyone with information or who believes they were victimized to contact the department’s Criminal Investigations Division at 972-466-3293.
