NFL and TMRW Sports Name New League Premier Flag
Published November 2, 2026. The NFL and TMRW Sports have named their upcoming professional flag football league Premier Flag. It is scheduled to start in summer 2027, ahead of the sport’s Olympic debut at the 2028 Los Angeles Games. The league will feature men and women, with its first season planned for a purpose-built stadium in a U.S. location still to be announced.
The organizers have not finalized the number of teams or the player salary structure. Their stated aim is to provide enough pay and support for athletes to focus on flag football year-round. Planned services include coaching, strength and conditioning, nutrition and health benefits. Media rights for the inaugural season are also under discussion.
Some prominent players have signed on as ambassadors, including U.S. women’s national team athletes Ashlea Klam and Izzy Geraci, and men’s player Darrell “Housh” Doucette III. Doucette said players would welcome being paid for a sport in which they have invested substantial time and money.
The league is working with the International Federation of American Football on rules, formats and equipment. A talent identification event is planned for Mexico City in November, following a combine held in London. A Premier Flag Showcase is also planned during Super Bowl week in Los Angeles.
TMRW Sports, which launched the TGL indoor golf league, is partnering with the NFL on the project. The NFL has described the league as a new professional opportunity and a top-level platform for the sport. The NCAA is expected to vote in January on whether women’s flag football should become a championship sport, potentially leading to a title game in spring 2028.
