Foggy Bottom Outage Hits Agencies and George Washington University
An outage in Washington’s Foggy Bottom area left about 1,100 Pepco customers without electricity on November 2. The disruption affected government agency facilities, including the State Department, and George Washington University.
Pepco said the outage followed an event at its I Street Substation. Crews were at the site assessing conditions and working to restore service, while the cause remained under investigation. The utility had not provided a restoration time.
The university canceled all morning classes. Some classes were scheduled to take place in person and online in the afternoon, according to a university advisory.
Traffic signals were out at numerous intersections in the area. Pepco urged people to stay clear of its work areas for safety. Customers can report outages by calling 877-737-2662.
