UIC Student Arrested After Attempted Stabbing at Student Center

A student at the University of Illinois Chicago was taken into custody following an attempted stabbing at Student Center East on November 4. The incident occurred at about 1 p.m. on the upper-level passage linking rooms 605 and 606, at 750 South Halsted Street, university officials said.

The other student involved was not stabbed or hurt. The arrested student remains in custody, and UIC police are investigating.

At about 1 p.m., the university sent a notice asking people to stay away from the site as officers arrived. As a safety measure, Student Center East was cleared and is still closed during the ongoing investigation.

UIC subsequently reported that the site was secure and that the campus community faced no danger. University officials said they would share additional updates as they become available.
