The Housemaid Stage Adaptation Sets London Premiere

Lionsgate announced on November 2, 2026, that The Housemaid will be adapted for the stage, with its U.K. tour beginning at Richmond Theatre on September 14, 2027. The production is scheduled for a two-month tour, with further dates to be announced. Casting has not been revealed.

Playwright Bekah Brunstetter is adapting the story, based on Freida McFadden’s bestselling novel and the 2025 film. Matthew Dunster will direct. Simon Friend and Hanna Osmolska are producing for Melting Pot, in collaboration with Lionsgate.

The film starred Sydney Sweeney as Millie Calloway, a young woman who takes a job in the home of wealthy couple Nina and Andrew Winchester, played by Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar. Millie discovers deception within the household. Paul Feig directed the film, with a screenplay by Rebecca Sonnenshine.

Lionsgate said the stage production is part of the franchise’s expansion. Jenefer Brown, the company’s president for global products and experiences, said the stage version and a sequel in production were helping build momentum for the series, and that the live format would offer audiences a new way to experience its suspense.

Production is underway on the sequel, The Housemaid’s Secret, which is scheduled for a global theatrical release on December 17, 2027. McFadden’s book series also features The Housemaid Is Watching alongside The Housemaid’s Secret.
