Driver Dies After Rollover Crash on I-10 in Baytown
The crash was reported around 12:34 a.m. on the East Freeway near Spur 330. The driver was traveling at high speed when he lost control of a black Cadillac and struck a wall, according to investigators. The vehicle rolled over several times and came to rest in another lane before the driver was ejected onto the roadway.
The man was not wearing a seatbelt, authorities said. Houston Fire Department EMS pronounced him dead at the scene. A witness told authorities the Cadillac had passed them while they were traveling 80 mph.
Investigators found alcohol containers inside the vehicle and on the roadway, scattered as the car rolled. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said speed and alcohol were contributing factors. The freeway was closed for at least two hours and reopened at about 5 a.m. The driver’s identity was not released.
