Driver Dies in High-Speed Southwest Houston Crash
Houston police said officers were called to the intersection at about 3 a.m. on October 31, 2026, after an off-duty officer saw a car speeding through it. The officer estimated the vehicle was traveling about 80 mph before it hit a pole in southwest Houston.
The collision split the car in two and threw the driver from the vehicle, police said. Houston Fire Department crews attempted lifesaving measures, but he was declared dead at the location. Investigators suspect the vehicle may have been an older Audi sedan.
Investigators have not established whether alcohol played a role. Police said items found in the car suggested the driver might have been coming from a Halloween party, but that possibility has not been confirmed. The man’s identity has not been released.
