Chicago Picks Kane County Spruce for 2026 Christmas Tree

For its 113th holiday season, Chicago will welcome a 50-foot Norway spruce from the Clark family of Campton Hills, in Kane County. The city chose the tree after a month-long hunt to bring festive greenery to downtown.

Crews plan to fell the spruce and hoist it with a crane on November 2, then transport it to Chicago. It will stand in Millennium Park, close to Michigan Avenue and Washington Street, and be decorated and lit for the season.

The city plans to hold its tree-lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. on November 20. The display is slated to stay illuminated for visitors until January 10.

In recent years, the city has also featured a 68-foot tree supplied by Glenview in 2025, one measuring 53 feet from Logan Square in 2024, and a 45-foot specimen brought from Darien in 2023.
