Forklift Taken Near Daley Plaza and Recovered Nearby

A person entered a secured location along the 100 block of West Washington Street near Daley Plaza shortly before 4 a.m. on October 30 and took a forklift, Chicago police said. A window at the site was damaged during the entry, and no injuries were reported.

Police found the forklift not long afterward on the 100 block of West Madison Street, a short distance away. No arrest was reported.

Work is underway to prepare Daley Plaza for the Christkindlmarket, with construction equipment behind barriers. Police have not confirmed whether the stolen forklift was connected to that work.

Area detectives are investigating.
