At Least 30 Cats Rescued From Lombard Shelter Fire

Lombard firefighters went to a blaze at Cat Guardians, located in the 900 block of East St. Charles Road, on the night of November 1. The Village of Lombard said the flames had been contained.

Firefighters rescued at least 30 cats from the shelter. Officials believe most of the cats inside were accounted for, but the total number at the facility had not been confirmed.

At the site, people carried animal crates to vehicles. Lombard police assisted with traffic control, and officials urged the public to stay away as responders carried on with their work.

The village provided no information about what caused the fire or how much damage the building sustained. It said no additional information was available.
