Week 8 Breakouts Offer Fantasy Adds for the Stretch Run
Week 8 produced a fresh group of potential fantasy additions, led by two running backs whose workloads could grow. Arizona’s Tyler Allgeier totaled 191 yards and scored twice after Jeremiyah Love and Bam Knight were injured. If either is unavailable in Week 9, Allgeier could have value as a flex starter against Seattle.
Las Vegas’ Mike Washington Jr. received 25 carries against the Jets, while Ashton Jeanty had two. Jeanty said after the game that he had been told Washington was now the starter, making Washington a priority waiver target.
Other potential pickups include Cardinals quarterback Gardner Minshew, who recorded three touchdown throws once Jacoby Brissett left the game. Minshew is a possible option in superflex leagues if he starts in Week 9. Titans quarterback Cam Ward also had a career-best 304 passing yards, two passing touchdowns and 41 rushing yards, though Tennessee has a bye next week.
At receiver, Jets wideout Adonai Mitchell caught seven passes for 142 yards and a touchdown on nine targets. Browns tight end Harold Fannin Jr. had 10 catches for 154 yards on 12 targets, while Tampa Bay running back Bucky Irving carried 27 times for 170 yards and a touchdown.
Kansas City’s Emmett Johnson also had a big receiving game, topping 100 yards and scoring on a 73-yard catch. He remains a handcuff, but an injury to starter Ken Walker would sharply raise his fantasy value.
