Allgeier and Washington emerge as Week 9 waiver targets
Published November 2, 2026. Week 8 brought two unexpected shifts in running-back workloads, making Arizona’s Tyler Allgeier and Las Vegas’ Mike Washington Jr. key names for fantasy managers preparing for Week 9 waivers, which run overnight Tuesday. Their value depends on different questions: injuries in Arizona and whether Washington’s role holds in Las Vegas.
Allgeier delivered 147 rushing yards and a touchdown on 11 carries against Dallas, and added five catches for 44 yards and another score. Jeremiyah Love left with a right ankle injury, while Zonovan “Bam” Knight suffered a concussion. If both miss Week 9, Allgeier could lead the Cardinals’ backfield. The duration of either player’s absence was uncertain in the coverage, and Knight could potentially avoid missing time.
Washington led the Raiders’ backfield against the Jets, playing 60% of the offensive snaps and carrying 25 times for 83 yards. Ashton Jeanty had two carries. Washington is viewed as a possible flex option for Week 9 at San Francisco if that workload continues, and as a potential longer-term option. Jeanty’s continued involvement in passing situations could limit Washington’s ceiling, however, and his role could change.
The recommendations differ on which back to prioritize. One assessment favors Allgeier for managers needing an immediate starter, particularly if Arizona’s other backs are sidelined, while treating Washington as a possible season-long addition. Another names Washington its preferred pickup, with Allgeier a Week 9 flex play if Love and Knight remain out.
Other backfield situations to watch include the Giants, where Devin Singletary could start against Philadelphia after Cam Skattebo’s hamstring injury and Tyrone Tracy Jr.’s placement on injured reserve. A possible Jonathan Taylor trade could also open a role for Indianapolis’ Seth McGowan.
