Three Detroit Women Die in Lodge Freeway Crash

Michigan State Police said three women from Detroit died after a car crash on southbound M-10, also known as the Lodge Freeway, near Wyoming Avenue. Troopers were called to the scene at about 2 a.m. on November 1. The driver and both passengers died from their injuries.

Investigators’ preliminary account says the driver did not make a curve. The vehicle left the freeway, crossed an embankment and shrubbery, then went airborne. It landed on an access lane carrying traffic onto southbound M-10 from Wyoming Avenue and struck a concrete barrier.

Police said alcohol and speed are suspected of contributing to the crash. The investigation was ongoing on Sunday morning. Officials have not disclosed the women’s ages.
