Two Women Die After Multi-Vehicle Crash in Mesa
At about 12:57 a.m. on November 1, Mesa police went to the site of a collision involving two pedestrians by North Center and Inglewood, south of McKellips Road. The women, both 18, were walking across Center Street amid rain and poor visibility when a southbound vehicle hit them, investigators said. Police have not released their names.
The driver stopped and tried to warn approaching motorists. A second vehicle and a reported third vehicle then came upon the scene and may have hit one of the women. One victim was pronounced dead at the location; the other passed away at a hospital.
The drivers who have been identified stayed at the scene and are cooperating with investigators. Police said they have found no indication that speed or impairment contributed to the crash. Investigators are trying to locate the possible third vehicle, described as a dark-colored sedan, and ask anyone who was in the area at the time to call the Mesa Police Department at 480-644-2211.
