Houston Shooting Kills Grandmother and Critically Injures Infant
Houston police said officers responded at about 7:35 p.m. on October 31 to a shooting at a residence in northwest Houston’s 7700 block of Willow Chase Boulevard. The infant’s father had gone there to deliver diapers to the child’s 19-year-old mother. An argument between the two preceded the shooting, police said.
The man shot the mother’s mother, who was about 40, in the back, then shot the infant in the abdomen. The 19-year-old mother was not injured and carried the baby outside, police said. Officers found the suspect dead inside the apartment from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Officers gave the woman CPR and placed a chest seal on her before paramedics with Houston Fire Department transported her and the infant to a hospital. The woman was declared dead there. The infant was in critical condition as of early November 1, 2026.
Houston police homicide investigators are investigating the shooting. Police had not made public the identities of the victims or the suspect, pending notification of family members.
