Indiana rallies past Minnesota in overtime
Indiana needed another overtime finish to protect its national championship defense, edging Minnesota 23-16 on October 31. The Hoosiers improved to 8-1, while Minnesota fell to 5-3. Indiana had also needed overtime the previous week, winning 13-6 at Michigan.
Minnesota moved ahead 16-13 with 19 seconds remaining when Luke Drzewiecki made a 60-yard field goal. Charlie Becker then caught a 33-yard pass to set up Paddy McAteer, who tied the game with a 60-yard kick as regulation ended.
Indiana changed quarterbacks at halftime, replacing Josh Hoover with Grant Wilson. On the first play of overtime, Wilson connected with Becker for a 25-yard touchdown. Indiana’s defense then stopped Minnesota’s possession to seal the win.
Wilson completed 9 of 17 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown. Becker caught eight passes for 149 yards. Hoover was 8 of 19 for 119 yards, with one touchdown and an interception. Minnesota quarterback Drake Lindsey threw for 120 yards and a touchdown.
Indiana hosts Southern California on November 14 after a bye. Minnesota is scheduled to host No. 7 UCLA next Saturday.
