Chicago Man Charged After Bucktown Carjacking
Timothy Lee, a 39-year-old Chicago resident, faces accusations of carjacking, attempted carjacking and illegally entering a vehicle after an incident in Bucktown on October 29. He also faces two misdemeanor allegations of obstructing a peace officer.
Police allege Lee first tried to take a vehicle by force near 2300 North Lister Avenue. A short time later, they say, he went to the $5 Fullerton Express Car Wash and took a woman’s white SUV as she vacuumed it.
Officers arrested Lee at 3:27 a.m. on October 30, after finding him in the SUV in the 2300 block of North Bosworth Avenue. Police documents say he was asleep in the driver’s seat. As officers approached, he woke up, started the vehicle and tried to shift it into drive. An officer stopped the SUV and shut it off.
An arrest report says Lee was taken into custody following a brief struggle. He is due in court on the charges.
