Kane Misses Penalty as Bayern and Dortmund Share Bundesliga Points
Harry Kane’s first match since winning the Ballon d’Or ended without a goal as Bayern Munich drew 2-2 with Borussia Dortmund in Munich on October 31. Bayern staged a pre-match celebration for the striker, who appeared with his family and the trophy before kickoff.
Kane struck the crossbar with a penalty and later hit the post. He set up Dayot Upamecano’s goal with a header, while Konrad Laimer also scored for Bayern. Dortmund’s Fabio Silva equalized in the 89th minute, leaving the two teams tied at the summit of the Bundesliga standings.
Bayern played without manager Vincent Kompany, who was recuperating after leaving hospital following a sudden collapse the previous week. Michael Olise, Ismael Saibari and Serge Gnabry also left the match with injuries.
Elsewhere, AC Milan beat city rival Inter 3-1, with Christian Pulisic scoring and Diego Moreira contributing a goal and two assists. Barcelona reclaimed first place in La Liga with a 6-1 win over Alaves, after Atletico Madrid had briefly moved top by beating Levante 2-0.
Both Manchester clubs lost in the Premier League: Chelsea beat Manchester United 2-0, and Brighton won 1-0 away to Manchester City. City’s second consecutive league defeat gives Arsenal the chance to take the lead with a win or draw against Liverpool on Sunday.
