Jets Rule Out Trading Garrett Wilson
On October 31, the New York Jets were reported to have firmly rejected the possibility of trading wide receiver Garrett Wilson, despite interest from rival teams ahead of the November 10 deadline. The Jets are 2-5 and have lost five of their past six games, but the 26-year-old is viewed as a player to keep and build around.
Wilson is under contract through 2030 after signing a four-year, $130 million extension in July 2025. The Jets traded cornerback Sauce Gardner and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams last season, but the team’s stance on Wilson is different, with ownership said to value him highly.
Wilson has recorded 37 catches for 444 yards and three touchdowns in seven games this season. He has produced despite the team’s struggles, including three 1,000-yard seasons in his career. His receptions and receiving yards lead the Jets this season.
Wilson has said he wants to remain in New York, while acknowledging that winning matters most to him. “I want to be here, man,” he said. He has also described the team’s losses as increasingly difficult after several seasons of trying to stay optimistic.
The Jets are expected to build around Wilson, using draft picks acquired in past trades and adding talent through the 2027 draft cycle. Quarterback Geno Smith said he is trying to get Wilson the ball while accounting for opposing defenses’ coverage. Wilson is expected to remain with New York beyond the deadline.
