Garrett Wilson Says He Wants to Stay With the Jets

With the NFL trade deadline approaching on November 10, Garrett Wilson said he wants to remain with the New York Jets and has not asked to be traded. The receiver addressed the rumors Wednesday, as the 2-5 team prepares to host the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.

Wilson said he loves being with the Jets, but winning matters more to him. New York has gone 24-51 since drafting him in 2022 and has not made the playoffs during his tenure. He said years of hoping for improvement have made each loss more painful.

Wilson is also frustrated by his recent role in the offense. He caught two passes for 26 yards on three targets in Sunday’s 28-25 loss to Miami, after recording four catches for 27 yards against New England the previous week. Cameras showed him animated on the sideline during the Miami game. Wilson said his frustration comes from wanting to help the team win, not from a desire to leave.

Quarterback Geno Smith said he tries to get Wilson the ball while also responding to the defense. Coach Aaron Glenn and offensive chief Frank Reich have said Wilson will have a larger role, while Glenn described the sideline incident as overblown.

Wilson, the 2022 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, leads the Jets with 37 catches for 444 yards and three touchdowns through seven games. He signed a four-year, $130 million extension in July 2025. The Jets have praised him as part of their future, but their record and his concerns about involvement remain central to the trade speculation.
