Former New Jersey Teacher Pleads Guilty in Student Abuse Case

Caron, 36, admitted in Cape May County to a second-degree charge of putting a child’s welfare at risk through sexual conduct. She was charged in January 2025 after investigators accused her of sexually abusing the student between 2016 and 2020, starting when he was 11. The two had a daughter in 2019, when the student was 13.

Caron taught fifth grade at an elementary school in Middle Township for over ten years. The case came to light after the student’s father saw a social media photo of Caron’s daughter in December 2024 and noticed a resemblance to his son. Investigators said the pair’s child was born in 2019.

Under the plea agreement, Caron faces a five-year state prison term and must surrender her teaching license and any future public employment. She must be assessed at a state facility for adult offenders to establish whether her conduct is repetitive or compulsive, a determination that could influence her sentence.

After prison, Caron must register under Megan’s Law and serve parole supervision for life. She is scheduled to be sentenced on January 8, 2027. The former student has previously said he did not consider himself groomed and did not want Caron jailed; he has not made a statement about her guilty plea.
