Former Woodbine School Aide Faces 29 New Charges
Shaun Stebbins, a former pre-kindergarten aide at Woodbine Elementary School, faces 29 charges for creating abusive images of children, five counts of aggravated sexual assault and other related charges. The new charges were filed on October 30 after investigators found evidence of alleged crimes in Cape May County, prosecutors said. Stebbins was being held at the Atlantic County Correctional Facility.
Stebbins was arrested on March 29, 2026, and previously charged in Atlantic County with sexually abusing four children over more than a decade. The investigation began after one alleged victim, now an adult, came forward. Investigators later identified three more alleged victims, who are siblings. The earlier allegations involve abuse at Stebbins’ home in Somers Point.
Authorities said a search of his electronic equipment revealed many pictures and recordings featuring pupils who attended Woodbine Elementary. Stebbins worked at the school from 2022 until his arrest. The newly filed case includes charges connected to the alleged material and sexual assaults; authorities have not provided further details about those charges.
Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland said children are vulnerable and that people who harm them should be held accountable through the justice system. The school district had previously said Stebbins was employed through a staffing company and that it sought a replacement after learning of his initial arrest. Prosecutors asked anyone with information to contact their Special Victims Unit or submit an anonymous tip.
