Ripa and Consuelos Unveil 60 Looks for Halloween Special
On October 30, “Live with Kelly and Mark” aired its annual Halloween episode, featuring hosts Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos in a record 60-plus looks inspired by celebrities, characters and viral moments. Ryan Seacrest joined the opening, and Jerry O’Connell and Lisa Rinna served as judges for the audience costume contest.
Ripa appeared as Lady Gaga and Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes, while Consuelos joined her in a spoof inspired by the reality show “The Traitors.” Other costumes and sketches drew on “Toy Story 5,” Spider-Man, the horror film “Obsession,” squishy toys and Taylor Swift’s concealed trip beneath the Eras Tour stage in a utility cart.
Ripa said she was pleased with how her Gaga costume came together, while both hosts described being unsure about some of the planned scenes. Consuelos recalled being directed to climb into the cart without knowing what the bit involved. Ripa also revisited her Holmes impression, saying the founder’s voice was now less distinctive and harder to imitate.
Executive producer Michael Gelman said the team begins collecting ideas on November 1 and works on the show throughout the year. Costumes are sometimes revised close to the broadcast as new pop culture moments emerge. The episode was available to stream on Hulu on Friday.
