Jazz seek to end skid against Trail Blazers

The Utah Jazz will try to halt a three-game slide when they meet the Portland Trail Blazers at the Delta Center on October 31. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m. Mountain time, before Utah begins a four-game road trip. The Jazz are 1-4, while Portland is 3-1 and fifth in the Western Conference standings.

Utah’s injury list includes Jaren Jackson Jr., who is out with a torn knee ligament, and Jusuf Nurkic, sidelined by a foot injury. Markkanen is questionable with a right wrist sprain. He was injured in the same game as Jackson, and his availability could affect Utah’s frontcourt plans. Josh Green started in Markkanen’s place against San Antonio and could do so again if Markkanen cannot play.

Portland will be without Ja Morant, who has a hamstring strain, and Shaedon Sharpe, who is out with a meniscus injury. Robert Williams III is listed as questionable with a knee issue. He has averaged 9.7 points and 8.7 rebounds through three games this season.

Utah is looking to avoid falling to 1-5. The teams’ injury situations, including Markkanen’s status, are expected to become clearer closer to tip-off.
