Hawks Visit Pelicans After Ending Losing Streak
Atlanta will try to build on a Friday win over Cleveland when it faces New Orleans on October 31. The Hawks snapped a three-game skid with the victory and enter the matchup at 3-3. The Pelicans are 1-4 after earning their first win of the season against Sacramento on Thursday; tipoff is set for 7 p.m. EDT in New Orleans.
Atlanta lists Jock Landale as available despite a nasal fracture. Mouhamed Gueye, who has a left foot fracture, and Henri Veesaar, who tore his right ACL, are out. Veesaar is expected to miss the rest of the season; the Hawks have not provided a return timetable for Gueye.
New Orleans lists Yves Missi out with a knee injury, while Dejounte Murray (personal reasons) and Jordan Poole (ankle) are day to day.
The teams enter with different records from last season, too. Atlanta went 46-36 and was 22-19 on the road, averaging 118.5 points per game. New Orleans finished 26-56, including a 17-24 home record, and averaged 115.5 points.
Onyeka Okongwu led Atlanta against Cleveland with 29 points and 12 rebounds, adding two assists, a steal and a block. It was his first double-double this season. The Hawks will look to him to sustain that production against a Pelicans team that has been competitive in some losses, despite its slow start.
