Cam Skattebo’s Documentary Tracks His Return From a Gruesome Injury
October 29, 2026
The New York Giants have released an hour-long documentary about running back Cam Skattebo’s recovery from a serious injury that ended his 2025 season. The film, available on the team’s website and YouTube channel, follows his rehabilitation and return to the field this season.
Skattebo broke his tibia and dislocated his ankle during a game against the Eagles in Philadelphia on October 26, 2025. He said the injury was so severe that, after seeing his foot, he worried doctors might need to amputate it. He also described an unusual feeling before the game, saying he felt detached from himself while praying with teammates.
The recovery brought an emotional test as well as a physical one. Skattebo had previously thought he might quit football if he suffered a major injury, and he said there was a period when he struggled to imagine playing again. His older brother, Leo, said the time away helped Skattebo understand that he wanted to return. Rehabilitation director Leigh Weiss helped guide his progress, including keeping him from doing too much too soon.
The documentary builds toward Skattebo’s return in the Giants’ season opener against the Dallas Cowboys, when he scored a touchdown and celebrated with a backflip. Skattebo said being back on the field made the stress and pain fade, and left him feeling free. The film also shows his continued connection to teammates during rehabilitation and his efforts to find interests beyond football.
