Bears Acquire Jeffery Simmons in Two-First-Round-Pick Trade

Chicago is adding a major piece to its defensive line, trading its first-round picks in 2027 and 2028 and a 2027 fourth-round pick to Tennessee for Simmons and a 2028 fifth-round selection. The deal comes ahead of the NFL’s November 10 trade deadline; it had not yet been formally announced.

Simmons, 29, has spent his NFL career with the Titans since they selected him 19th overall in 2019. A four-time Pro Bowler, he earned first-team All-Pro honors last season after recording a career-high 11 sacks in 15 games.

He has four sacks through seven games this season. Across his career, Simmons has recorded 46.5 sacks and is considered a formidable defender against rushing and passing plays.

The 5-2 Bears are seeking a playoff spot and have been looking to strengthen their defense. Simmons is expected to join Grady Jarrett in the starting lineup, giving Chicago another established presence on its defensive front.

The trade follows a series of high-profile moves around the league in the lead-up to the deadline. Chicago coach Ben Johnson said October 28 that he and general manager Ryan Poles were in regular discussions about what the team needed, adding that Poles was exploring ways to improve the roster both now and in future seasons.
