In-N-Out Says It Will Keep Growing in California
Lynsi Snyder has dismissed speculation that In-N-Out could leave California, saying the company plans to keep expanding in the state. In a recent interview, the CEO called abandoning California “the dumbest business decision ever” and said the chain has future locations planned in California cities.
Snyder’s comments followed rumors that the burger company might move following her family’s move to Tennessee in the prior year. She has previously described California as a difficult place to raise a family and do business, while also recognizing the state’s positive qualities.
She said California is where In-N-Out began, where it remains, and where it intends to stay. The company was founded in California in 1948 by Harry and Esther Snyder, Lynsi Snyder’s grandparents.
In-N-Out is also pursuing growth beyond California. The chain is considering expansion in Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. Snyder has said an Albuquerque location is expected to open by 2027.
The company is continuing to plan California locations as well. A proposed drive-thru restaurant in Sherman Oaks, near the 405 Freeway, has appeared in public filings. The expansion plans indicate the chain intends to add stores in California while entering additional markets.
