Austin Simmons Re-Signs With Missouri for 2027
The Tigers have brought back quarterback Austin Simmons for the 2027 season, giving them an experienced option at the position as they prepare for the offseason. The agreement still allows Simmons to enter the 2027 NFL Draft, and a team spokesperson declined to comment immediately on that provision. The development emerged on November 6.
Simmons transferred to Missouri this offseason after three seasons at Ole Miss, where he began the 2025 season as the starter before losing the job. In eight starts for the Tigers, he has completed 152 of 240 passes for 1,952 yards, 16 touchdowns and two interceptions. Missouri is 6-2.
His passing numbers place him fourth in the SEC in yardage and tied for fourth in touchdowns. The Tigers’ passing offense averages 257.1 yards per game, with receivers Cayden Lee and Donovan Olugbode among the conference’s top eight in receiving yards. Several other Missouri players, including running backs Ahmad Hardy and Jamal Roberts, are eligible to play in 2027, though some could pursue the NFL.
Missouri may need to replenish its offensive line, where several seniors could depart. Keeping Simmons gives the Tigers a settled quarterback as they consider roster decisions and potential additions from the transfer portal. The team is scheduled to face Texas on November 7 at Memorial Stadium, beginning a four-game closing stretch that also includes Georgia, Kentucky and Oklahoma.
