Adam Driver Says X-Men Drew Him to Marvel
On November 6, Adam Driver explained that his enthusiasm for X-Men helped persuade him to join Marvel’s reboot as the villain Mister Sinister, after declining roles in other Marvel projects over the years. He said the timing felt right and that he had been a fan of X-Men since childhood.
Driver said the project came together through director Jake Schreier’s approach, Marvel chief Kevin Feige’s involvement and a script he called “really cool.” He also described being cautious about taking on a high-profile film: many people would see it, he said, and he did not want to get it wrong.
Feige has described a recurring pattern of meeting Driver over Zoom to discuss Marvel roles, only for the actor to decline. Feige said Driver was cordial and generally direct about his feelings. Driver’s casting was announced at D23 in August.
The film’s cast includes Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, with Charles Xavier played by Christopher Abbott and Storm portrayed by Maya Boyd, Asa Germann as Angel and Samara Weaving as Emma Frost. The movie is scheduled to open in theaters on May 5, 2028. Schreier is directing, with Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo writing the script.
