Singapore Airlines Unveils New Cabins and Double Bed

The airline’s new first-class suite can be arranged as separate spaces or opened up for passengers travelling together. Its two-seat sofa converts into a bed measuring 80 inches by 60 inches (203 by 152 centimetres), which Singapore Airlines describes as the biggest double bed available in commercial aviation. The suite also has a table that can serve as a workspace, a personal wardrobe and additional storage.

The redesign extends from economy to first class and is due to begin entering service on selected Boeing and Airbus aircraft in the second half of 2027. Singapore Airlines is investing more than S$2 billion, or about US$1.5 billion, in the overhaul. Its future Boeing 777-9s are planned to receive all four redesigned cabins; the A350-900 and A350-900ULR will get the new business class, with first class also planned for the A350-900ULR.

Economy seats will offer 31 to 32 inches of legroom, up to six inches of recline and adjustable headrests. Premium economy legroom will increase from 38 to 40 inches, with recline rising from eight to nine inches. Both cabins will have added storage features.

Business class will gain sliding privacy doors and a revised seat layout, including a centrally positioned footwell. The new KrisWorld entertainment system will include 4K screens, spatial audio and Bluetooth headphone pairing. The airline also plans Starlink connectivity on enabled aircraft and more than 100 new or refreshed dishes across its cabins.

Singapore Airlines is also upgrading its SilverKris lounges and introducing tailored assistance at Changi Airport for Suites and first-class customers, including priority immigration and security clearance and concierge assistance.
