Airbnb Sets First-Half 2027 Launch for AI Travel Agent

Airbnb intends to roll out an AI-powered trip assistant during the opening six months of 2027, giving travelers a tool to explore and book trips through a travel-focused interface. The company announced the launch window in its third-quarter shareholder letter on November 5 and provided further details during its earnings call.

Rather than relying on a standard text-chat format, Airbnb says the agent will assemble features such as maps, photos, comparisons, calendars and itineraries in response to a guest’s needs. The company says its goal is to help people weigh options and plan with their travel companions, while allowing them to take action within Airbnb.

The tool is also intended to assist guests after booking, including with reservation changes, payment problems, refunds, rebooking and round-the-clock safety support. Airbnb expects its capabilities to expand to services and experiences as well as stays. CEO Brian Chesky said travelers enjoy researching trips, and argued that planning a vacation differs from handling routine tasks such as booking a restaurant.

The announcement came as Airbnb reported third-quarter revenue of $4.87 billion, up 19% and surpassing forecasts. The company lifted its 2026 revenue-growth outlook to the high teens from the mid-teens. The company said its revenue growth in the quarter was its fastest in more than three years.
