Henderson’s Illness Comes Amid Challenging Season
New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson missed practice on November 4 because of an illness, the same reason he sat out the team’s Week 8 win over Miami. He did not travel with the Patriots for that game. His availability for the November 8 home matchup with the Green Bay Packers remains uncertain, and veteran Rhamondre Stevenson is expected to carry more of the workload if Henderson is out.
ESPN reporter Mike Reiss said Henderson has faced significant challenges this year, including two ankle injuries and limited playing time. Henderson missed the Patriots’ season opener after an ankle injury in the preseason, then sustained another ankle injury during the October 11 win over Las Vegas. Reiss said he returned sooner than many expected and suggested the difficulties could be connected to what Henderson is dealing with now.
The 24-year-old second-round pick has appeared in six games this season, recording 52 carries for 203 yards and one touchdown, along with five catches for 45 yards. In the October 11 loss to Chicago, he had three carries for nine yards and played 13 offensive snaps.
Henderson posted a faith-focused message on Instagram on October 25, writing about hardship and describing his religious beliefs as a source of strength. The post included a passage from Psalms. The Patriots have not confirmed whether he will play against Green Bay.
