Nesmith’s Late Three Lifts Pacers Past Grizzlies
Andrew Nembhard scored 22 points and Pascal Siakam added 20 while Indiana’s Pacers secured victory over Memphis’s Grizzlies 107-103 in Memphis on November 4. Aaron Nesmith scored 16, including a late three-pointer that helped secure the win and end Indiana’s five-game losing streak. Six Pacers scored in double figures.
Memphis had cut Indiana’s lead to 104-103 when Ty Jerome scored with 28.2 seconds remaining. Siakam then found Nesmith in the corner for the decisive shot. Jerome and Cedric Coward each scored 23 points for the Grizzlies, who lost for the second straight time after opening the season with six wins.
The teams traded leads late. Memphis was ahead 91-86 with 6:19 left before Indiana put together an eight-point run, including two breakaway dunks by Obi Toppin. Neither team led by more than nine points.
Indiana’s defense forced 12 Memphis turnovers in the first half, leading to 16 points, and the Pacers went into halftime ahead 54-52. The Grizzlies made 12 of 44 attempts from three-point range. Several Indiana starters returned after missing the team’s previous game, as the Pacers have dealt with injuries, including to guard Tyrese Haliburton.
The Pacers are scheduled to face the Denver Nuggets in Mexico City on Saturday. Memphis will host the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday.
