Vanderbilt Lists Three Players as Probable for Mississippi State Game
Vanderbilt’s first availability report for its game at Mississippi State includes three defensive players listed as probable: linebacker Jamison Curtis, edge rusher Brian Allen Jr., and cornerback Jaylin Lackey. Allen missed the team’s previous game with an ankle injury; Lackey and Curtis have been sidelined for several weeks with soft-tissue injuries.
Defensive lineman Nikhil Jefferson and edge rusher Khalil Poteat are listed as questionable. Six Commodores are out, including backup quarterback Blaze Berlowitz, Aaron Bryant on the defensive line, and Gunner Givens, an offensive lineman, all of whom have season-ending injuries.
Linebacker Josiah Broxton tore his ACL in the week before Vanderbilt’s game against Kentucky, while Evan Hampton, a running back, sustained a lower-leg fracture during that game. Both injuries end their seasons. Linebacker Daniel Vollmer Jr. is also out with a hernia; his return timeline has not been specified.
Vanderbilt has lost five straight and is seeking its first conference win as it travels to face Mississippi State. The teams are scheduled to kick off at 3:15 p.m. CT on SEC Network. Coach Clark Lea said Vanderbilt needs its best effort in all three phases for the road challenge.
