Jackson’s Ankle Injury Leaves Ravens’ Bills Plans Uncertain
On October 27, uncertainty remained over whether Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson would return for the team’s November 1 game against the Buffalo Bills in Orchard Park. Jackson has missed three games since injuring his left ankle on October 4, including Sunday’s 35-13 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. The Ravens have not confirmed whether he will play against Buffalo.
Jackson said Friday that he has a high-ankle sprain and described the pain as severe. He also said he was moving in the right direction after taking part in limited practices, but playing without adequate mobility would not serve the team well. He had been listed as questionable before being ruled out against Cincinnati.
Opinions on his chances differ. Injury analyst David Chao put Jackson’s likelihood of playing against Buffalo at 50 percent on Monday. NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport said Tuesday he expected Jackson to play and that the Ravens anticipated his return. Coach Jesse Minter said Monday the team would know more after Wednesday’s practice.
If Jackson is unavailable, Tyler Huntley could start again. Against Cincinnati, Huntley threw for 298 yards and a touchdown, completed 67.6 percent of his passes and had one interception and four sacks. Baltimore is also expected to be without starting guard Olaivavega “Vega” Ioane because of injury.
