Van Duyne Wins Fourth Term in Texas’ 24th District
Republican Beth Van Duyne won reelection in Texas’ 24th Congressional District on November 4, defeating Democratic challenger Kevin Burge. Her victory gives her a fourth term representing parts of Dallas and Tarrant counties, a role she has held since January 2021.
Van Duyne’s campaign focused on tougher border controls, tax cuts, prudent budgeting, and economic growth. She also called for reducing government regulations and creating jobs, and pointed to her annual job fair as a way to help North Texas residents find job opportunities.
Burge, a Marine Corps veteran, campaigned on affordable housing, immigration reform, civil liberties and broader access to health care and education. Van Duyne was first elected to the House in 2020. Before entering Congress, she served as a regional director at the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development, mayor of Irving and a member of the Irving City Council.
Van Duyne Wins Again on Tax Cuts and Immigration Enforcement
Beth Van Duyne’s reelection in Texas’ 24th Congressional District extends the tenure of a Republican who campaigned on lower taxes, tighter immigration enforcement and reducing government regulation. She defeated Democrat Kevin Burge on November 4 and will serve a fourth term representing parts of Dallas and Tarrant counties.
Van Duyne also made fiscal responsibility and economic growth central to her campaign, while promoting job creation and her annual job fair. Her victory keeps those priorities in Congress, even as Burge offered a different focus: affordable housing, immigration reform, civil liberties, and expanded access to health care and education.
The contest presented voters with competing approaches to economic and social concerns. Van Duyne, first elected in 2020, previously served as a regional director at the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development, Irving’s mayor and a member of the Irving City Council. Burge is a Marine Corps veteran.
Voters Keep Van Duyne in Congress for Fourth Term
Texas’ 24th Congressional District voters returned Republican Beth Van Duyne to Congress for a fourth term, backing a campaign centered on reduced taxes, prudent budgeting, economic growth and tougher border controls. Van Duyne defeated Democratic challenger Kevin Burge on November 4.
Van Duyne also emphasized reducing regulations and creating jobs, including through her annual job fair, which she described as a way to help North Texas residents find job opportunities. Her win preserves a representative whose stated priorities put economic growth and limited regulation at the center of her campaign.
Burge, a Marine Corps veteran, campaigned on affordable housing, immigration reform, civil liberties and expanded access to health care and education. Those proposals offered voters a contrasting agenda. Van Duyne has represented parts of Dallas and Tarrant counties since January 2021 and was first elected to the House in 2020. Before that, she served as a regional director at the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development, Irving mayor and a member of the Irving City Council.
