Caitlin Clark Says Philadelphia Can Claim Her
Caitlin Clark told Kylie Kelce that Philadelphia can count her as a fan as the city prepares to launch a WNBA team in 2030. The Indiana Fever guard said she admires the intensity of the city’s sports supporters, despite having visited only once, for a medical appointment and a cheesesteak.
The pair kicked around possible names for the new team, including the Philadelphia Belles. Clark recognized the name from her youth basketball days, when the Belles were a strong AAU program she often faced. Kelce floated “Philadelphia Broads,” linking the suggestion to Broad Street and the city’s tough-edged image. Clark said the team’s arrival, alongside a new arena, could bring enormous excitement.
Their conversation also turned to Clark’s football allegiances. She explained that she kept a custom Colts jersey given to her at a game but did not wear it, joking that she wanted to stay loyal to the Chiefs’ red. Clark said she had not considered the reaction at the time and later realized her teammates had worn their jerseys. She praised the Colts and the Irsay family, while Kelce said she had faced criticism herself for not wearing red at Chiefs games.
Clark has attended Chiefs games with Taylor Swift and was seen cheering for Kansas City on October 18. She also said she would like to experience Philadelphia basketball from courtside at a Sixers game. Kelce joked that local fans would welcome Clark as their own until the city’s WNBA team arrives. Clark accepted the claim.
