Eric Dane Recounts Fight With Josh Duhamel on Las Vegas Set

Dane’s memoir, titled to evoke a record of his days and moments, recounts a confrontation with Duhamel while they filmed the NBC series Las Vegas. Dane appeared in two episodes in 2004, during the show’s second season, when Duhamel played Danny McCoy, a former Marine working in casino security.

Dane wrote that he had a herniated disc in his neck and asked Duhamel not to pull his tie during a staged fight. Duhamel did so during the first take, causing Dane pain, and repeated it on the second. After Dane alerted a producer, Duhamel apologized and said he had become caught up in the scene. On the third take, he pulled the tie again.

Dane recalled removing his jacket, raising his fists and moving toward Duhamel. The cameras continued recording, and Dane wrote that the scene made him appear to be the aggressor. He later described his response as a regret, saying he and Duhamel had since seen each other and were on good terms. Dane also apologized to his former co-star in the memoir.

Duhamel has previously said that, while playing McCoy after the character returned from Iraq, he immersed himself in a dark emotional state that unsettled people around him. Dane’s memoir also describes his eventual ALS diagnosis in 2024, following medical tests and an earlier diagnosis of multifocal motor neuropathy. The memoir is available for purchase.
