Lions Reporter Apologizes for Football Question at Injury Update
On November 2, Detroit Lions reporter Justin Rogers said he regretted bringing up a football topic during a press conference centered on linebacker Jack Campbell’s health. Campbell was injured against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday and was taken to a hospital after being carried off the field.
The Lions said Monday that Campbell was improving, but withheld further details, citing respect for him and his family. Coach Dan Campbell spent much of the press conference discussing the linebacker before Rogers asked a question about football. The coach answered it and continued.
Rogers later wrote on social media that he should have saved the question for another media availability, which was expected Wednesday. Some people who responded said the apology was unnecessary, with several suggesting the coach welcomed a change of subject.
Speaking on Detroit radio, Dan Campbell said Jack’s condition remained on the team’s minds, while stressing that the players still had work to do. He said the captains had passed along the positive update to teammates, helping them cope and focus on preparation. The coach said the team would keep the player and his family in its thoughts as he improved.
